FATHER OF THE FAST-FOOD

I just finished watching the movie Founder; based on the story of Ray Kroc and the birth of McDonald’s. The movie was interesting in many ways, and I took away a few insights relevant to our quest as property investors.

Throughout the movie they referenced this quote from former US President Calvin Coolidge:

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. “

In many ways, Ray Kroc is the epitome of this quote.

He even wrote a book titled “Grinding It Out”, which spoke of how, as a 52-year-old milkshake maker salesman, he saw something no one else did, and had the faith and courage to turn a successful, family-run business into a household name. McDonald’s is now in virtually every country, had revenues of over $6B in 2016, and is said to feed 1% of the world’s population every day.

So what exactly is persistence?

The dictionary defines it as the fact of continuing in an opinion or course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition.

Persistence is no doubt an important quality for all entrepreneurs and investors. The ability to stay the course in the face of challenges may be a highly rewarding quality.

However, stubbornly holding onto your position in the face of repeated failures could also prove counter-productive to your wealth position. The challenge for all of us is how to know when persistence crosses over into just plain stupidity.

There is quote often misattributed to Einstein: “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, yet expecting to get a different result.” So how do we know the difference between persistence and insanity?

Ray Kroc was clearly no overnight success. He tried and failed with a number of unsuccessful sales roles and business ventures. Yet at 52, he still had the passion and drive inside him to want more from his life. So, whether you like the food, the business model, or even the man, there can be no denying: persistence was a key factor in McDonald’s success.

So, on a scale of 1-10, how much persistence would you say you have?

Do you pack up stumps the minute the going gets hard or doesn’t go exactly to plan…or do you dig in and look for ways to overcome the obstacles in front of you?

What business are you in?

Perhaps the turning point for Ray Kroc was meeting Harry Sonneborn, whom Kroc referred to as his “financial wizard” and whom would go on to become President of the McDonald’s corporation from 1955–1967. He heavily influenced the decision to turn the business model from one about selling burgers to being about controlling the real estate. And McDonald’s owns a lot of real estate! In 2016, there were around 36,525 stores worldwide.

When it comes to investing in real estate, we see far too many people treating it like a hobby, instead of the potentially lucrative business it can be. We encourage all property investors to treat their property investing like they would any other business.

No doubt you would agree that in any well-run business, there are going to be structures and systems that help take the guess work out of it. To be able to reproduce a consistent result — year after year — is undoubtedly a powerful outcome for any business.

So as the CEO of your own property investment business, what do your current systems look like?

Are you efficiently and effectively allocating the appropriate amount of human, financial and emotional resources towards improving your business year on year?

In the movie, the original McDonald brothers who actually founded the business, Maurice and Richard, “failed” not because they did not appreciate great system, but because they were afraid to want to grow their business to the level it was ultimately capable of becoming. Their desire to play it small was portrayed as a contributor to their business’s eventual demise, some 6 years after Ray Kroc handed them a cheque for $3M.

As they say, in business you are either growing or you are dying!

WHAT IS LEADERSHIP ?

What is leadership? A simple definition is that leadership is the art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal. This leadership definition captures the essentials of being able to inspire others and being prepared to do so. Effective leadership is based upon ideas (whether original or borrowed), but won't happen unless those ideas can be communicated to others in a way that engages them enough to act as the leader wants them to act.

Qualities of great leaders.

1. Leaders Set The Example: Leaders understand that action speaks louder than words and they act the part.
2. Leaders Have Vision: Vision comes from the old germanic word vissen which means I know what I see. Leaders have a clear vision and know how to communicate it.
3. Leaders Care: Leaders understand that people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. Your people need to feel it.
4. Leaders Are Doers: Leaders get things done and deliver results. They are self motivated and take action.
5. Leaders Listen: Leaders listen to understand. They don’t just prepare their response or rebuttal. They truly listen.
6. Leaders Are Great Communicators: Leaders develop their ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner and understand how to connect.
7. Leaders Are Committed: When you are interested you do what is convenient but when you are committed you do whatever it takes.
8. Leaders Make It About Others: Leadership is not about you, it’s about the people that you lead.
9. Leaders Have Knowledge & Skills: Leaders develop their knowledge and skills because they know that people do business with people they know, like trust & value.
10. Leaders Are Adaptable: In a constantly changing world – adaptability is crucial.
11. Leaders Have Integrity: Leaders do what they said they were going to do, when they say they were going to do it, the way they said they were going to do it.
12. Leaders Lead Individually: Leaders know their people well enough that they can treat them the way they want to be treated. Leadership is individual not collective.
13. Leaders Are Approachable: The idea of the leader in the ivory tower is gone – leaders need to be accessible to their people.
14. Leaders Are Passionate: The word passion was originally used to describe Christ’s suffering – so passion means “Being willing to suffer for something that you love” – so leaders push through when it is hard.
15. Leaders Are Solution Thinkers: Leaders focus on the answers and know their job is to solve problems and find solutions.

What makes leader fails ?

Greed. I’m going to get mine since everyone else is and besides, I deserve it. Look at what I have done.

Insecurity. Poor self-esteem based on family experiences – shockingly high.

Power. I am in control – I want and get the attention I need.

Arrogance. Delusion belief: I am better than anyone else.

Narcissism. Severe form of selfishness and often an inability to love others.

Paranoia. Never trust anyone – no such thing as loyalty.

Manic Behavior. Obsessively driven which often results in a big crash.

Addictions. Drugs, alcohol, gambling and sexual compulsions.

Burnout and Depression. Often hidden and at least subconsciously reasons for irrational behavior.

Moral Deficiencies. Primitive moral development and rationalization and blaming.

LEADERSHIP THEORY OF ADOLF HITLER

Evening gentlemen , so today ill be sharing about Adolf Hitler. I think most of us have seen a lot of movie regarding this fella. How good was Hitler as a military commander? Was he, as his former subordinates claimed after World War Two ended, a meddlesome amateur who kept them from conducting the war properly? What were his strengths and weaknesses, his goals and methods?

Adolf Hitler is one of the most infamous characters in world history, known for his leadership in the Nazi Party and his role as chancellor of Germany in the early 1930s. After the devastating results of World War II and the Holocaust, can Hitler be considered a leader despite the damages he influenced?

According to his so-called Leader Principle (Führerprinzip), ultimate authority rested with him and extended downward. At each level, the superior was to give the orders, the subordinates to follow them to the letter. In practice the command relationships were more subtle and complex, especially at the lower levels, but Hitler did have the final say on any subject in which he took a direct interest, including the details of military operations, that is, the actual direction of armies in the field.

As a leader, Hitler maintained legitimate power, however he could achieve it (Hughes, Ginnett, Curphy). When Hitler joined the Nazi Party, he felt that the leadership was divided and ineffective, paving the perfect path for him to take over. While there were many in the party who disapproved of his personal ambition, most recognized his abilities to generate public attention for the party

Throughout his rule, Hitler maintained a mission and outlook that Sashkin would say fulfills the requirements of visionary leadership. He constructed a vision that stated the “Aryan race” was superior to all. While there are several definitions where Hitler can be considered a leader, there are many others that would denounce his leadership because it is lacking in respected morals and a relationship with his followers. Hitler projected a personalized charismatic leadership, a style that is “exploitative, non-egalitarian, and self-aggrandizing” (Choi).

Hitler was known for heavily critiquing those who reported to him and became angry and frustrated with mistakes. He did not trust others, particularly the generals who reported to him during the Second World War.As a leader, he did little to build a relationship with his followers, focusing on direct control rather than mutual communication.“Leadership is not a property of the individual, but a complex relationship among these variables.” Hitler underplayed and often ignored the characteristics of his followers, the characteristics of the Nazi Party as a whole, and the political context surrounding his leadership.

When examining Hitler’s leadership, it is essential to identify your own leadership model. Do you believe that morality and communication are key factors when developing a strong and effective leader? In hindsight, it is easy to denounce Hitler as a leader because of the pain and harm he afflicted on others.

THE BADASS LADY PIRATE

Evening gentleman ! so recently i just read stories about this badass lady pirate in the world . Have u heard Madam Ching in Pirate Of the Carribean . She exactly exist in the real world. So i just found out the stories of this infamous pirate lord in the world.

According to wikipedia, Madam Ching or know as Cheng I Sao  as a prominent pirate in middle Qing China, who terrorized the China Sea in the early 19th century. She personally commanded over 300 junks (traditional Chinese sailing ships) manned by 20,000 to 40,000 pirates[1]:71—men, women, and even children ( wikipedia ) . Can you all just believe it ? A woman who has control an entire fleet that could defeated even nation navy. For you information Madam Ching was born Shi Xianggu  in 1775 in Guangdong

She was a Cantonese prostitute who worked in a small brothel in Guangzhou,[3] but was captured by pirates. In 1801, she married Cheng I, a notorious pirate. The name she is best remembered by simply means "Cheng's widow". Then how come a prostitude can climbing into top leadership ? soon we will know.

ASCENSION TO LEADERSHIP

On 16 November 1807, Cheng I died in Vietnam.[4] Ching Shih immediately began maneuvering her way into his leadership position. She started to cultivate personal relationships to get rivals to recognize her status and solidify her authority. In order to stop her rivals before open conflict erupted, she sought the support of the most powerful members of her husband's family: his nephew Cheng Pao-yang and his cousin's son Cheng Ch'i. Then she drew on the coalition formed by her husband by building upon some of the fleet captains' existing loyalties to her husband and making herself essential to the remaining captains.[1]:71

Since Ching Shih would have such a large force at her command, she knew she needed someone to assist her in managing the Red Flag Fleet's day-to-day operations, but remain loyal to her and be accepted by the low-level pirates. She believed there was only one man for the job, Cheung Po Tsai. (wiki)

Those who defied or fought back against Ching Shih met with gruesome fates - in one instance, a village who put together a militia to resist the Red Flag Fleet lost 80 men to beheading, and most of the women and children were captured and sold into slavery. When the Chinese Imperial Army sent a massive force to dismantle Shih's fleet, they lost 63 ships - and one captured officer was nailed to the ship's deck and brutally beaten. A Navy Admiral by the name of Kwo Lang committed suicide to evade capture

Years of their infamy took their toll - more and more challengers began pursuing the Red Flag Fleet, and they began suffering defeats. Seizing on the opportunity, the Chinese government offered amnesty to all pirates, hoping to dilute the fleet's power - Ching Shih took the offer, and became one of the few legendary pirates to ever live long enough to retire. She was able to negotiate to keep her loot, have her slate wiped clean, and opened up a gambling house. She died at the age of 69. NICE right gentleman !

The Great Khan of Khan

1ST GREAT KHAN OF MONGOL EMPIRE

Genghis Khan[note 3] (c. 1162 – August 18, 1227), born Temüjin, was the Great Khan and founder of the Mongol Empire, which became the largest contiguous empire in history after his death. He came to power by uniting many of the nomadic tribes of Northeast Asia. After founding the Empire and being proclaimed "Genghis Khan", he launched the Mongol invasions that conquered most of Eurasia. Campaigns initiated in his lifetime include those against the Qara KhitaiCaucasus, and KhwarazmianWestern Xia and Jin dynasties. These campaigns were often accompanied by large-scale massacres of the civilian populations – especially in the Khwarazmian and Western Xia controlled lands. By the end of his life, the Mongol Empire occupied a substantial portion of Central Asia and China.

Beyond his military accomplishments, Genghis Khan also advanced the Mongol Empire in other ways. He decreed the adoption of the Uyghur script as the Mongol Empire's writing system. He also practiced meritocracy and encouraged religious tolerance in the Mongol Empire, and unified the nomadic tribes of Northeast Asia. Present-day Mongolians regard him as the founding father of Mongolia. Source : wiki

Genghis Khan is known for the brutality of his campaigns[9] and considered by many to have been a genocidal ruler . Genocide is intentional action to destroy a people (usually defined as an ethnicnationalracial, or religious group) in whole or in part. The hybrid word "genocide" is a combination of the Greek word génos ("race, people") and the Latinsuffix -cide ("act of killing") .

9 Lessons on Power and Leadership from Genghis Khan

Have An End in Mind
"For the Mongol warrior, there was no such thing as individual honor in battle if the battle was lost. As Genghis Khan reportedly said, there is no good in anything until it is finished."
Lead from the Front
"When it was wet, we bore the wet together, when it was cold, we bore the cold together.”
Serve a Greater Good Than Yourself
"[A leader] can never be happy until his people are happy."
Have a Vision
"Without the vision of a goal, a man cannot manage his own life, much less the lives of others...The ancients had a saying: ‘Unity of purpose is a fortune in affliction.’”
Be Self-Reliant
"No friend is better than your own wise heart! Although there are many things you can rely on, no one is more reliable than yourself. Although many people can be your helper, no one should be closer to you than your own consciousness. Although there are many things you should cherish, no one is more valuable than your own life.”
Be Humble
"The mastery of pride, which was something more difficult, he explained, to subdue than a wild lion. He warned them that, 'If you can't swallow your pride, you can't lead.'"
Be Moderate
"I hate luxury. I exercise moderation...It will be easy to forget your vision and purpose one you have fine clothes, fast horses and beautiful women. [In which case], you will be no better than a slave, and you will surely lose everything."
Understand Your People
"People conquered on different sides of the lake should be ruled on different sides of the lake."
Change the World, But Change it Gradually
"The vision should never stray far from the teaching of the elders. The old tunic fits better and it always more comfortable; it survives the hardships of the bush while the new or untried tunic is quickly torn."

POTONG SAWIT

Hai guys !! Hari ni saya nak share sikit mengenai aktiviti saya 2 minggu sekali.. Setiap minggu saya balik ke rumah kalau tak ade aktiviti kt ALAM. Tapi 2 miggu sekali saya mesti tolong ayah saya potong sawit di kebun.

Saya dah terbiasa ikut ayah saya pergi potong sawit sejak kecil.

Especially masa musim hujan. "Babi" hutan pun banyak kt situ. Banyak kolam kt situ sebab "dia" gali.

Tempat paling saya suka potong sawit kt Parit Bunga. Pokok kt situ masih rendah-rendah lagi. Saya potong pakai pahat ayah saya potong pakai sabit.
Mata sabit kena serong sikit baru boleh potong, kalau tegak je memang tak putuslah pelepah tu.

Hati-hati masa pelepah dah putus, klau terkena duri pelepah tu menangislah jawabnye..

Lepas buah dah jatuh, angkat masuk kereta sorong.

agak-agak kereta sorong dah penuh, bawak kt tempat kita kumpul sawit tu.

Sini tempat lori akan berhenti dan amik sawit kita untuk ditimbang.

Habis potong sawit biasanya ayah saya belanja makan cendol. Fuhhh memang hilang penat terus. Sampai rumah makan je ape yang ade kt warung mak. Hahahaha

Happy fasting

Assalamualaikum and good day guys.

So as you know month of Ramadhan will arrive shortly, I just want to share some poem (pantun) on fasting.

Salam dihulur kasih diterima,
Agar ikatan terjalin mesra,
Syaaban berlalu Ramadhan menjelma,
Tingkatkan amalan hadkan selera.

Hubungan terikat sesama manusia,
Hati bertaut rasa dikongsi,
Nafsu disekat elakkan dosa,
Hati disuci pelbagai dimensi.

Bukan mudah menahan diri,
Bukan sukar mengawal situasi,
Tekadkan nurani tegarkan diri,
Ingatlah Yang Maha Melihat sentiasa di sisi.

Selera dijamah sebelum Subuh,
Azan Maghrib tanda berbuka,
Sebulan cuma Ramadhan berlabuh,
Mohon berkat selagi mata terbuka.

Siang bertahan menghitung waktu,
Terawih tak lupa di malam hari,
Mahmudahkan diri setiap waktu,
Walau Ramadhan kan pergi esok hari.
