Kingsman: The Secret Service

Kingsman is a spy movie based on comic book series Kingsman and it was officially released on December 2014 in United Kingdom. Generally this movie is about secret spy agency in UK which related to the legendary King Arthur and his knights, including the magician Merlin. As time flies, the new generation of knights has turn into some kind of spy agency which not only protect UK but the entire world as well. One of the main character in this movie, Eggsy has been selected as candidate to fill up Galahad position but the last task denied his chance. The other candidate, Roxy however managed to fill up the position and joined the agency as the new Galahad.

When Valentine (antagonist character) tried to influence the world through his free simcard, Eggsy together with Merlin and Roxy set out to stop Valentine and his follower. Eventhough he is not part of the members, he is the one who killed Valentine and eventually stopped Valentine's plan. So, a good leader doesn't always be a perfect person, yet he/she must possess some leadership skills to lead a team to be better.

Transformers is a film series directed by the famous and great Michael Bay starring great names as the main characters such as Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Mark Wahlberg and Stanley Tucci. The highlight of this movies is not on the actors/actresses, but the Transformers itself. Transformers are a group of so-called robotic alien which can imitate various form of vehicle e.g truck, cars, bikes, jets and even Tank! These transformers basically divided into two groups, Autobot and Decepticon. A war that will never end between the two groups eventually reached Earth after their planet destroyed due to the war.

Optimus Prime and Megatron; both of them are the leader of Autobot and Decepticon. Both of them displayed a great leadership skills throughout the movies.

Deyy, no lahh. They are Hang Jebat, Hang Kasturi, Hang Lekir and Hang Lekiu.

Hang Tuah and his brothers are popular in Malaysia especially in Melaka as they used to be great fighter served to the great Sultan Melaka before Melaka fall into Portuguese’s hand. All of them were highly skilled in martial art especially Hang Tuah who is entitled as “Laksamana” granted by Sultan Melaka and at the same time people indirectly thought that Hang Tuah is the greatest among his brothers.

I would say that Hikayat Hang Tuah 5 Bersaudara is quite similar with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Why I said so?

•      All of them are well-trained in martial art
•   Both stories have a character who less in strength but possessed a great leadership skills, and another character who is more powerful but short-tempered.

Hang Tuah Good Qualities:

What is Taming Sari? Taming Sari is a Keris (weapon/blade/kris) used by Laksamana Hang Tuah during his time. He obtained this Keris after defeats the previous owner, Taming Sari, a great warrior from Majapahit.

Familiar with these characters? 90’s kids for sure you guys have been watching TMNT during your childhood right. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a story about 5 brothers Leo (blue band mask), Raph (red band mask), Don (purple band mask) and Mikey (orange band mask). They are actually belongs to April but due to an accidents all of them went into sewer and eventually found by Master Splinter, a highly-skilled ninja mouse which later on become foster father to those turtles. After being trained for years, all of them become a great warrior and fight against The Shredder and his army called The Foot. Among those 5, Leonardo has been selected as the leader and secretly his brother Raphael, being upset as he thought he is more capable to be a leader due to his physical and of course strength. Yet, still he obeyed his Master and respect Leo as their leader. At first, I also have a same thought since I personally adore Raphael more than Leonardo. Again, I started watch the series to see why Leo deserved to be their leader instead of Raphael.

What is so great about Justice League?

Justice League is another superheroes superhero movie based on DC Comic which currently ranked first in the blockbuster movie. In this movie, we will be served with a lot of fighting scenes between Justice League members and the great Steppenwolf with his army of Parademons. Members? Yess, the idea to form Justice League was initiated by Batman (Ben Affleck) as he noticed the Earth is currently in grave danger due to the attack of Steppenwolf and his army. He was then together with Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) tried to persuade other superheroes starting from The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) to fight against Steppenwolf. I personally think that the best scene in this movie is when all of the JL members agreed to bring Superman (Henry Cavill)
back to life. Batman once said "I believe Superman is more qualified to lead the League". As Superman get his life back, the League become much more stronger and managed to defeat Steppenwolf and his army.

- Good looking (always neat, tidy and nice haircut)
- Ready to sacrifice his own life
- More "human" than a normal human

Weakness
- Powerless if get near to Kryptonite
- Too much power which sometimes harm his own teammates
- Level of damage caused by him is severe

After a series of evaluation done by other superhero-fan including me, Superman has been selected as a better leader compared to Batman. Yeahh, he deserved it!

Dragon Boat Race: Drummer, Paddlers n Helmsman

Hey Guys, I would like to dedicate this entry special for Dragon Boat since last week ALAM’s teams managed to put themselves at the same level with other great teams.

But what is Dragon Boat Race actually?

Basically Dragon Boat Race is a race involving normally 4 teams or more in a certain distance i.e. in Sungai Melaka the set distance is 250 meters and in Putrajaya Lake the set distance is 500 meters. But the boats are actually propelled by man-power! That’s what make it special as compared to other boat race.  This race is said originated from the great mainland Republic of China which has been held over for more than 2000 years.

Regarding this race, there are 3 major parts in the team which the combination will form a great team.

1.        Drummer

2.       Paddlers

3.       Helmsman

Drummer:

-          Drummer normally will be selected from the lightest paddlers. He/she will be the “Heart” of the team, he also will determine the pace/beat of each stroke. Drummer plays a big role in the team as the synchronization of the team depends on the beat produced by the Drummer. Other than that, Drummer also will secretly communicate with the Helmsman in determining the perfect timing to change the beat.

Paddlers:

-          Paddlers will facing the drummer and they are the one who will put their strength on each stroke they made. The first row of paddlers is the most important as the pace/speed and synchronization are depends on them. Paddlers normally use standardize paddle which made up from woods or carbon fiber. Breathing plays a big role as it allows paddlers to focus on their strokes and not to lose strength drastically.

Helmsman:

-          Helmsman also known as steerman is the one who control the rudder in other meaning he will determine the heading of the boat. Helmsman will communicate with the drummer if he notice the team is falling behind and need to change their pace.

Helmsman set the course

There are few types of strokes but we in ALAM team only focus in A-Stroke type which allows faster stroke recovery and powerful stroke. The stroke is called as “A-Stroke” as the position of hands and paddle will form a shape of A in standby position.

You should visit Illusion 3D Museum Melaka located in Dataran Pahlawan Mall. This museum allows you to experience a new side of art and at the same time you can snap a very nice image of you and the art. The combination is so great as the art looks ‘alive’.

I would say the ticket price is quite high BUT if you are a student don’t forget to bring your student ID to get a half price discount. It cost us only RM16.50 per pax. I went there with my roommate, Afiq, Nasir and Adda the one and only girl (UiTM Student).
