Leadership produces during Study Group

What is a study group? Study group means to have a meeting compose of a few people for the purpose of gaining knowledge together. So, how from a simple study group to gain knowledge, a leadership qualities can be produce as well? There are few reasons that I want to share on this topic.

Firstly, study group can enhance your self-discipline. This is because study group meets at regular times, attending students cannot procrastinate. Procrastinate means here to delay or postpone the action. So, if you do not skip your study group, you are improving your self-discipline.

Next, study group improve teamwork. Teamwork is a skill to be practiced for the 'real world'. Working with your peers in a study group gives you an excellent opportunity to hone your people skills. After you finish college, you will often find yourself working with colleagues on projects in a very similar group dynamic. If you come across a difficult situation in your study group, you can use it to practice your collaboration abilities.

Then, study group can also enhance your tolerance in a sense of the ability to be open mindedness in accepting others opinion. If you study by yourself, you will always see your material from the same perspective yours. While this may not be a problem, getting fresh perspectives on a topic can help you learn it more thoroughly. Study groups are the perfect places to find these new perspectives. As you listen and ask questions, you will soon start noticing a wide variety of different viewpoint on the same idea. This will force you to think more about your position and will, therefore, develop your critical thinking skills while helping you study.

Lastly, study group can build your confident level. In a study group, you will have your own opinion on the material where other see it differently from you. You will be force to take the stage to present your own thoughts. It will come naturally as you are very confident on the matters which they might be wrong about it.

To sum things up, even a study group which is used to gain knowledge from one another can build up a few of leadership qualities. These qualities will be develop well if do it properly and will shape us to be ready for the 'Real World'.

Officer of Merchant Navy

Who is an officer onboard of merchant vessel? He is someone who wields the rank as an officer which involves in variety of works such as navigation, deck maintenance, safety of handling of cargo, etc. He is an individual who possesses a high standard of leadership qualities. Working onboard a vessel, crossing through the charted oceans, and depart from one land then harbor to another land can be seen as a perfect picture of a seafarers’ life. While these things are the normal opinion of the land dweller who never been out to the sea, they never knew what type of individual are meant to be the officer that runs the vessel. There are several qualities that are important for the individual to be competent when doing his job as an officer. A few basic qualities required in the officers are punctuality, self-discipline and responsibility.

Punctuality is one of the leadership qualities needed onboard. Punctuality means to be arriving on the set time. In the strong maritime community that has existed for millennia, it is the iron rule of seafarer to come for their shift on time. Life onboard is very strict when concerning about time. Time is crucial factor when running the vessel because it is not easy to run a huge facility like ship at sea with utmost punctuality. All officers will always treasure the time like a saying goes, “time is gold”. Delay of any kind of operation can lead to the delay of the whole ship, resulting in loss of both time and money.

Discipline onboard is all about self-discipline and how as an officer managing his life and duty onboard. Everyone onboard a merchant vessel knows very well the meaning behind of self-discipline. It is the ability to commit oneself to come for duty without having others to tell when to do it. Onboard a vessel which crossing through the water from one end to another end, does not knows what is the meaning of taking a break. The vessel is constantly running with having someone on the bridge doing a look-out watches 24 hours per day and 7 days in a week. That being said, as officer it is important to have the skill of managing oneself or in other words have a good self-discipline. Seafarers are required to stay extremely disciplined and professional not only during working hours but also during the spare time on ships.

Responsibility is also one of the trait of a good officer. Responsibility means the obligation to perform and complete the task. An officer must be dutiful to his job as per job description stated in Ship Management System (SMS) manual. An individual with high sense of responsibility is welcomed in all kind of industry, this also include the maritime industry. When one do his work even if it is a petty task assign to him dutifully and shows a great result, it shows that he has high sense of responsibility toward the job.

In conclusion, an officer onboard a merchant vessel have a high standard of leadership qualities. This is because life onboard a merchant vessel is a tough place to survive for the individual called officer. Since, as an officers he shoulders a lot of responsibilities and need to carry out in a properly order so that the life onboard can be a bit comfortable for him.

Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece)

Hello to all the readers especially the anime lover. Today, I want to talk about my all time favorite Anime character which is Monkey D Luffy. He is the main protagonist of the anime called 'One Piece'. At first glance, he may seem to be appear as moronic character and always being reckless. Luffy is renowned for his trademark Straw Hat earning the nickname 'Straw Hat Luffy'. The Straw Hat crew is made up of talented, intelligent, and capable individuals with various skills and quirks. Despite glaring differences in personality, they come together as a cohesive unit. The credit for this can be placed with the captain. Luffy’s charisma is apparent, while his crew may jokingly question why they follow him, they do so instinctively, as he has earned their loyalty.

Beyond a strong core, however, Monkey D. Luffy embodies a surprising amount of qualities that make a good leader. The combination of his natural presence, relaxed yet confident attitude, and willingness to consider criticism combine to create a dedicated and powerful crew. Luffy has a somewhat inexplicable charisma to him. From the very beginning of the manga, he is shown to have good judgment regarding others, only choosing crew mates who he considers to be “good.” He never doubts himself, automatically assuming that the people he’s named as friends have his best interests in mind, and pursues them stubbornly. This reckless self-assurance draws people to him, and they begin to place faith in him as well. After the initial shock at his audacity has worn off, Luffy continues to display confidence that goes far past the point of bravery. Naturally, it’s easy for characters to call him insane for this, but his methods continue to work in his favor. All of this together make for a very magnetic personality.

Once Luffy has impressed someone enough to join his crew, a different side of him comes into play. His confidence never steps into arrogance, allowing for an affable personality in contrast with his superhuman ability. He never puts himself above his crew as they’re his closest friends. His approach-ability lends itself to an atmosphere of comfort, perfect for cultivating strong relationships. Over time, he demonstrates his ability to protect those around him, making them willing to follow his crazy plans. Rather than a stereotypical authoritarian captain, Luffy helms a somewhat “democratic” pirate crew.

He’s generally hands-off about what many others would consider major issues, such as Zoro and Sanji’s constant fighting. Instead of forcing them into resentful alliance, he allows them to vent their frustrations. To an outsider, this lack of action may seem unwise, but in actuality I believe it demonstrates that Luffy understands his friends. He lets them express themselves, eliminating frustration, and knows he doesn’t need to police them. This aspect of his character also plays to the way his crew seems to heap disrespect on him. A different leader might expect a professional attitude from subordinates, but that doesn’t fall in line with Luffy’s set of beliefs. Above all else, he values freedom, and thus grants it to his friends. He feels no need to demand subservience and only occasionally calls for direct obedience. In cases when he does, the respect his crew has for him shines through. Though he is their friend, they take his command seriously, with only the pretense of complaint.

His usual willingness to step down is actually one of his greatest strengths. He doesn’t push to make every decision because he sees the areas in which he is lacking. A mark of a great leader is the ability to recognize one’s weaknesses, find people to cover them, and allot work accordingly. He knows that he can’t do everything on his own, and that others make him stronger. Obviously, he shouldn’t be in charge of navigation or food preparation. In choosing incredibly skilled people to handle those positions, when they step up to take control of a situation, it reflects well on him, rather than making him look weak.

This system couldn’t work for everyone, but his charisma makes even people whose talents seem to outshine his answer to him. In fact, the tight bond Luffy forges with his crew pushes them to become better versions of themselves. The confidence he holds in his friends make them want to impress him and help one another. The care he provides them with fosters a positive environment that they will all fight to defend. Merely by being himself, Luffy can help others strive for self-improvement happily, an enviable quality for a leader.

Ina nutshell, Luffy is a fictional character from Anime 'One Piece" who shows a lot of leadership qualities despite his appearance. To the readers who are trying to find an Anime to watch during their free time, I recommend you to watch this Anime. It is the no.1 most watched and favorite of all time in the Anime community.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is the Great Leader of Islam

Assalamualaikum (Peace be upon you). I hope all the reader is in good health when reading this. Today I want to share withe the readers who is prophet Muhammad (SAW) and a few of his characteristics as a Great leader. He is the last apostle chosen by the Almighty God, Allah (SWT) because of possessing great leadership capabilities. He (SAW) was always observed as a personification of morality, honesty, truthfulness, understanding of others, and enlightening effective commanding etc. which is why we are directed by the Creator of universe to pursue His "Uswa Hasanah" (the best examples) in every walk of life. So that we as the follower to be successful in this world and the hereafter.

"The Muslims shall not carry out their pilgrimage this year but shall wait till next year. And no man shall come from Quraish without the approval of his master seeking shelter with the Muslims but he shall be returned to Quraish. And that no man from the Muslims shall come to Quraish seeking protection but he shall be permitted to stay with Quraish. They also agreed to abstain from fighting for ten years and that whosoever wished to enter into Muhammad’s pact and treaty could do so, and whosoever wished to enter into Quraish’s pact and treaty could do so. Muhammad (SAW) agreed to this truce which was named “The Truce of Al-Hudaibiyya”

From the above statement, it shows that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is someone who has a clear vision which at first may be seems to be on entirely one sided but benefits them on the long run. There were two main advantages that were achieved: first the number of new entrants to Islam increased many folds when those who were returned to Qureysh escaped from their masters, lived as outlaws and attacked on Makkans` trade caravans. And because of that, Qureysh allowed Madinans to keep the escapees with them, which lead to entry of individuals into the religion of peace with any fear of retribution. Second, Muslims were less powerful at that stage than the Qureyshis, so it would not be wise to commit jihad at that time, so Muhammad (SAW) entered into peace pact, and took some time to increase in number and resources. Finally when treaty was broken by the non believers, Muslims had a crucial victory in the battle of Makkah. It shows the Prophet`s (SAW) realistic thinking and great vision, which paved the way towards the final coup of Muslims over non believers.

If you do not aid the Prophet – Allah has already aided him when those who disbelieved had driven him out [of Makkah] as one of two, when they were in the cave and he said to his companion, “Do not grieve; indeed Allah is with us.” And Allah sent down his tranquillity upon him and supported him with angels you did not see and made the word of those who disbelieved the lowest, while the word of Allah – that is the highest. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.

From the above statement, it show that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is someone who possessed an unyielding determination. When He was threatened to leave His preaching about Islam, He remained resolute and never backed down from His religious and moral endeavor. When migrating from Makkah to Madina, even when kuffars (non believers) gathered around the cave which they were taking temporary refuge, Abu Bakr (R.A) trembled with fear, but Prophet Muhammad (SAW) remained compose. It shows His valor and how firm He remained on His stance, which is why He never mishandled any of His undertakings and used to stay right at the front of every battle that He fought against kuffars (non believers).

“There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves. Grievous to him is what you suffer; [he is] concerned over you and to the believers is kind and merciful.” [Quran, 9: 128]

From the above mentioned Ayah, it is clearly refers to Muhammad`s (SAW) sense of close acquaintances with His people, which proved to be vital for getting their admiration and belief in Him. By knowing His followers in person and building close relationships with them, He would appoint the best man for every task, who would readily accept the challenge in the way of Allah and His Prophet (SAW), which eventually resulted in increased output and productivity.

So, to summarize all of this, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is someone that is loved by all the Muslims even though that He has gone for 1400 years. His stories were the inspiration for all the Muslims of this generation and his teachings (Sunnah) is the things that we as Muslims should follow.

Leader in You

What is a leader? Majority will think that a leader is someone who gives inspiration and guide others toward one goal together, and most of the leader is natural born to lead other. But, in my opinion all of us are born to be leader, and it is just up to us to stand out and swallow the fear to be front of the others. All of the leaders start right that. It is just a matter of time whether you take the role of the leader. Even if did not lead other, you can still lead yourself toward your own goals and be a leader of your own self.

So I want to share a few of basic qualities that make oneself a leader. All of these qualities are inside of us, but it is up to us to polish these qualities to be a better leader of our own self. The qualities that I want to highlight are punctuality, self-discipline and responsibility.

Firstly, I want to share what is the meaning behind being punctual. Punctuality means the state of oneself being on time. It is a good quality since it is all about respect the time. If you can be on time for appointment that you have set the time with others, then others will have respect for you since you did not waste their time. This quality can differentiate you with the saying of 'typical malay' from others perspective.

Next, is the quality of self-discipline. The very definition of self-discipline is the ability to commit oneself to do important things in your life without the needs of other to remind you.It is all about how you manage yourself in executing it. Example is as a student, you have to study and do the assignments that are assigned to you by the lecturers. Most of us will feel very lazy in doing so, but how you manage to do so is what they called self-discipline.

Lastly, is the quality of being responsible. All the expert in every fields agreed to that an individual with high sense of responsibility outshines other. It is the quality to do all of your priorities dutifully and being accountable of the priorities in the possibility of it not done right. This a good trait that not all individual can accomplish, but it does not mean that this quality only have in a few selected person. It is just up to us, to be responsible when dealing the priorities in life.

In conclusion, all of the qualities are inside of us. It just like I said before, which is up to us take these qualities to a different level. If these qualities are enhance in right way, you will definitely be a good leader for yourself and without you noticing it you also may be the leader for others to follow since you gave the qualities that inspire others.

So let me tell you briefly about his early life. He was born in Alor Setar, Kedah. He was a very hard working student. He excelled at school and became a medical doctor. He graduated from King Edward VII College of Medicine in Singapore or it is known as National University of Singapore now. He met his future wife at his University. They got married in 1956. They had their first child in 1957. He was very active in politics. While he was practising as a doctor in Alor Setar, he participated in one organization called UMNO (United Malays National Organization). He then was elected as the federal parliamentarian for the Alor Setar-Based seat of Kotar Setar Selatan in 1964. I can tell that he was very active in politics based on his stories of how he managed to share his ideologies to the people. To cut a long story short, he then became the Prime Minister on 16 July 1981, at the age of 56. You can google it to get further information of Tun Dr Mahathir.

So let's talk about his contribution to our lovely country, Malaysia. Im gonna talk a bit of his contributions because he had contributed like so many. So as for me, the first one would be when Malaysia had a financial crisis in 1997 and 1998. He had options whether to hand over Malaysia to the IMF or to not hand over Malaysia so he chose the later one. For your info IMF is International Monetary Fund. He saved this country from being ruled by the new economic colonialist super economic power the IMF. He had faith in the option that he chose and with his strategical moves, he managed to make this country to rise.

Other than that, our famous Petronas Twin Tower was the idea of our great leader. The vision behind the design was to showcase Malaysia as a global power. It was to symbolize the nation’s “courage, ingenuity, initiative, determination, energy, confidence, optimism, advancement and zest. Whew, those were high expectations.  But the Petronas Towers went on to win the international Khan Award for Architecture in 2004. This sky scrapper building means everything in this country. Thanks to our former prime minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.

Next is about our multi racial country. He had promoted campaigns of racial harmony within Malaysia. It was a good campaign for the people because in Malaysia, there are so many races here with different lifestyle, food, culture and so on. So, he had united the people that live multi-racial Malaysia and stop fighting. With that, Malaysia will always be in a harmony and peaceful state without any fighting. Tun Dr. Mahathir made Malaysia as the first country with multi racial people and it opened the world's eyes on Malaysia.

Last but not least is the usage of english in Malaysian Education system. He had managed to introduce English for the Science and Mathematics subject. In other words, these subject must be taught in english. This is very important as it helps young malaysian students to improve their english because it would help the Malaysian to keep up with the rapid developments.

I think that's the most significant contribution that I can see. He had contributed like so many and we should be thankful because we're living in peace and harmony country. Thanks Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad for developing our country. You're such a great leader. Malaysia boleh!!!
