Deadliest Catch

DEADLIEST CATCH

Deadliest Catch is a documentary television show produced by Original Productions for Discovery Channel. It portrays the real life events aboard a fishing vessel in the Bearing Sea during the  Alaskan King Crab, Opilio crab and Bairdi crab fishing seasons. The Aleutian Islands port of Dutch Harbor, Alaska is the base operations for the fishing fleet. The show's title derives from the inherent high risk of injury or death associated with the work.

This is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. They have to work during the rough sea. the risk of getting injured is very high. The vessel never stops rolling, pitching and heaving unless they are at port. There are many equipments on board that can cause an injury to someone. They have to sail for months in order to catch the crabs.

Since the job is very risky, the payment they get also very high. It is said to be one of the highest paid jobs in the world. They can earn up to 60000$ - 70000$ in a trip. It depends on the catch they have. The more crab they catch, the higher they will be paid. The price of the King Crab is very high which is up to 40$ - 50$ a pound. The season to catch those crabs are short, so they have to work hard. They even sometimes cannot sleep because there are hundreds of crab pots they have to work on.

Every crew on board must have high teamwork spirit, otherwise, they will burden the other. The crew sometimes fighting each other in because they hold grudge against each other. The Captain plays an important role to make sure the crew does not fight against each other so, they must be a strict captain. Safety is the priority on board the vessel.

I am so lucky when on board my last training ship, Puteri Intan because I can have a taste of the Alaskan King Crab. My Chief Engineer has ordered the crab from the agent in Taiwan. It is so delicious!! I hope I can eat the crab again.
